The release of Joomla 4.X and the just-arrived 5.X version have brought a plethora of exciting upgrades and extensions to the popular content management system (CMS), Joomla. For this open-source system, relied upon by numerous entities in both the public and private sectors in Greece today, the "Diavgeia Module" has been developed.

This module leverages the Diavgeia API to make calls based on keywords specified by the website administrator. The administrator can also set the number of decisions to display, their organization, and the Unique Decision Code (ADA), with the latter automatically transformed into a link to the relevant post on diavgeia.gov.gr. Additionally, the module allows for the inclusion of introductory text before displaying the decisions. Thanks to the embedded CSS classes and the corresponding field in the module's settings, it's easy to customize its appearance via CSS.

Public governance demands transparency, accountability, and openness. Similarly, the websites of public administration entities should be exemplars of these principles, serving as gateways for citizens to access information, services, and decisions. The Diavgeia Module hopes to contribute to this direction, making it straightforward to (re)publish decisions and information from Diavgeia on a Joomla website, enhancing transparency and access to public data. While it's not a novel innovation, it's an open-source and free tool, distributed under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or any later version, with no warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. See the GNU General Public License for more details.

Last but certainly not least, special thanks to Menios Faka and Dimitris Vasilakis for their invaluable contribution to the implementation of this module.
